IS THE SHOW OVER?

The popularity of belly- baring micro t- shirts like those favoured by pop star Britney Spears seems to be shrinking, at least in the United States. Turned out by a California- based company called C&C California, the hottest new tees are long, slim- fitting and made of sort, smooth cotton. Available in a wide ranger of colours, these t-shirts are being worn layered one over the other- with no belly buttons in sight.

POODLE SKIRT REVIVAL

Following the return of short 1960s style miniskirts, full, flared 1950s style skirts with crinoline petticoats are back. To update this look, choose a nylon mesh  petticoat in a bright shade instead of the traditional while. Another option for adding volume is to sew nylon mesh directly onto the skirt, a few inches from the hem.

NO STYLE DOUBTS

Dress in while wide- legged pants and a while jacket of her own design, singer Gwen Stefani dazzled guests at the launch of a line of handbags she designed for LeSportsac. Named L.A.M.B., the No Doubt singer’s clothes collection will debut in the United States in spring 2004. Her handbags ranger is  reportedly already selling well.

COURTLY LOVE

The medieval look is big for fall 2003, with designers like Fendi and Alexander McQueen drawing inspiration from knightly duels and courtly love. Fendi showcased metallic leather coasts and courtly and tunics worn over tight leggings, while Alexander McQueen turner out a collection of chiffon ribbon- trimmed corsets fit for a princess. Other nods to medieval dressing include over- the- knee boots and structured, armour-style coats.

SECRET SERVICE

British tabloids reported that fashion designer Stella McCartney married Alasdhair Willis in a secret ceremony on the lsle of Bute, a remote island off the western coast of Scotland, at the end of August. Visitors spotted on the island for the five-day celebration included Stella’s father, former Beattle Paul McCartney and his wife Heather, Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie, model Kate Moss and actress Liv Tyler. The bride was reported to have worn a Gucci dress inspired by the fawn- coloured dress and yellow coat worn by her late mother Linda when she wed Paul McCartney in 1969.
